• Omega-3  from Doppelherz® is used to improve blood lipids composition and blood homocysteine levels, hence reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease directly linked to hyperlipidemia and hyperhomocysteinemia

• 1 capsule contains:

1000 mg cold water fish oil:

180 mg EPA

120 mg DHA

12 mg vitamin E

6,3 mg vitamin B complex:

300 µg folic acid (B9)

3 mg vitamin B6

3 µg vitamin B12

• Omega-3 fatty acids (FA) reduce blood triglycerides (TG), through a mechanism which is not completely known. The possible modes of action are inhibition of acyl CoA: 1,2-diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT) , competitive inhibition of FA synthesis and increased peroxisomal ß-oxidation
• Treatment combining folic acid with vitamins B6 and B12 maximizes the activity of the two major metabolic pathways processing homocysteine: Vitamin B6 is necessary for the activity of cystathionine β-synthase, which converts homocysteine into cystathionine; tetrahydrofolate and vitamin B12 support the methylation of homocysteine to methionine
• Dosage

Adults:  2 capsules per day (600 mg omega-3)

Children above 10:  Due to its indication in the treatment of hyperlipidemia and hyperhomocysteinemia, Omega-3 from Doppelherz® is not intended for children

• Drug interactions:

Because omega-3 from Doppelherz® might affect blood fluidity, patients receiving anticoagulants should be monitored when taking omega-3.
